As lifelong volunteers and good-doers, Generous Goods founders always loved to discover a great product that gives back to a good cause. But they found it was hard to identify those “generous goods” and wondered why there wasn’t a single place to search, compare, and purchase them. There are many generous brands out there, but they’re not always easy to find!
So they assembled a stellar team and set out to create a searchable directory of products and brands that give back to good causes. The intent was to empower people to purchase with purpose, promote brands that act as a force for positive change, and cultivate a community of cause-driven shoppers. The result is the Generous Goods Collection, featuring over 500 products from 150 brands, and benefiting more than a hundred nonprofit organizations across a variety of important causes.

Investing in youth means investing in the future. With the right opportunities, today’s youth will save our planet, cure diseases, explore new frontiers, and lead us in tolerance. Our giving mission mirrors our business mission, which is to inform, empower and delight. Simply put, we support programs and organizations working to do the same for children around the world.
Through this mission, we may give to youth-related causes ranging from education to mental health, but at the heart of everything we do is an investment in the next generation that will benefit us all.

How does a product qualify for a listing on Generous Goods?
In order to qualify for a listing on Generous Goods, the purchase of a product must result in a direct, indirect, or in-kind contribution to a charitable organization that betters the world. Generally speaking, there are three methods of giving:
- percent of proceeds (ranging from 1% to 100% of net proceeds)
- fixed donation (for example, $5 for every unit purchased)
- buy one give one, or “BOGO” in which a specific item, such as a tree, a vaccine, or a duplicate of the product is donated with each purchase
Finally, to be featured on our site, a product must be something our editors consider to be stylish, clever, useful, entertaining, otherwise fabulous, or (hopefully) all of the above.

Does Generous Goods charge for services?
Generous Goods is a free service. We do not directly retail goods, but we do encourage you to shop our brand partners through the Generous Goods site so we can track our impact. Our focus is on becoming a trusted independent guide and resource for consumers who want to be intentional and impactful. Because we want to maximize the donations our brand partners make to their various causes (many of which are determined as a portion of net proceeds), we do not “take a cut” of any transactions or offer “special discounts” on goods we feature. We will rely on our community for business model guidance as we grow, but we always want the goodness to flow!
Does Generous Goods feature “green” products?
We do. BUT, they still have to qualify for our collection. While we at Generous Goods LOVE green products and strive to incorporate them into our lives whenever we can, that designation alone doesn’t earn products a spot in the GG collection. In order to be included, eco-friendly products must meet the same give-back standards as all other GG products (see above FAQ). Because we like green products so much, though, we try to give them a shout out in our descriptions and reviews. We do the same for woman-owned businesses and organic and fair trade products.

How do you get information about the products you feature?
Our editorial team researches each product we feature to ensure it meets our requirements for giving back. We use information from product websites and promotional materials and, when possible, are in direct contact with our brand partners to make sure we fully understand their impact. We do our best to describe the products in our collection as accurately as possible, but we are dependent on the information we collect and receive. If you come across a product in our collection that you have reason to believe should no longer qualify, please let us know!
